Does anyone seem to get sick more often?

Hi everyone, Happy Holidays. I was wondering if any of you with scleroderma seem to get sick more often then others around you? For example, do you catch more colds or stay sicker longer? This seems to happen to me and I didn't know if it was because of the scleroderma or not.

Thank you and everyone stay healthy through the winter.

" It all depends on how you look at it. I have morphea, and have since I was about 16 years old. I was perfectly fine-until I had kids. After the first child my skin was terribly battered..never regained the elasticity. After my second child my teeth began to disintegrate, after my third child my gallbladder went caput, and after my fouth child I had a ruptured appendix that turned gangreene (I never knew anything was wrong with me). I also have severe arthritis, yet I refuse to take medication for it. I'm only 29 and not overweight..its hard to imagine another cause besides the scleroderma.. "

" If you are on immunosuppressives or chemotherapy for the scleroderma, then of course it is going to make you more susceptible to infectious illnesses, and it will also take longer to recover from them.

I am not on any such medications, and I find that apparently my immune system is so overactive that I only get a cold about once every 6 years! "

" I'm the same as you Gardener. Even though I have a low WBC which should predispose me to getting everything I rarely get what's going around. "

" I've been wondering the same thing!!! I just found that I have CREST about 6 months ago. I've always had frequent illnesses and I hold on to colds forever! The docs were always trying to find reasons, and I've even had a couple of sinus surgeries.
I'm not on immunosuppressants, and I'm hoping I never have to be. I'd never be well!!! "
