Fatigue

Hi! Does anyone else get fatigued, especially in hot weather? My meds make me tired anyway, but also I find when the temperature gets above 75 or 80 degrees I get really super tired, feel drained of energy & feel really heavy.

Does anyone else with Sclero get really tired & drained from hot weather? It's so hard to get things done anymore. Some days by the time I get my dishes done, I'm wiped out. Why is it so tiring just to do dishes?!

" I get dizzy too, but no nausea. I have one room air conditioned, the living room, so I get up & do a few minutes worth of chores, then go recover in the air conditioning, then back to chores. It takes a long time to get things done that way, but at least I ccan still do things. "

" Hi, I get tired too, but I have never enjoyed hot weather very much either. Perhaps it is partly due to the meds you are taking. If I take my pain meds I am wiped out for the day, so I have tried to only take my tramadol once a day instead of 3x's a day. That has helped alot. I also know how hard it is to exercise, but that helps alot as well. Even if it is only for 10 minutes a day.I also found that if I think too much about my illness, I can think myself into feeling tired, so I really try to be gentle with myself and find something I enjoy doing everyday. Take care! Toshie "

" Toshie, What type of exercise do you do? The only exercise I do regularly is housecleaning and I don't think that counts ;)

I have lots of stretching & yoga books from my mom's estate that I keep thinking I should pick some exercises out of the books & try to build some kind of routine for myself...

Thanks,
Karen "

" yes yes yes on the tired. I don't know for sure what is causing it sometimes as I have so many things going on. I try to do a few gentle and stretching exercise and a short walk is good too. More if you can do it. Sort of have to force myself sometimes but find it does help. hugs "

" Yes, I have developed a very narrow temperature comfort zone. Anything below 74 degrees, and I get attacks of Raynauds. Above 78, and I get breathtaking hot flashes.

Some of my fatigue turned out to be obstructive sleep apnea, which I understand is pretty common in scleroderma. Do you snore? If so, maybe you should consider having a sleep study. I had thought it would be a total waste of money. So imagine my surprise when they told me my apnea was not mild, not moderate, but SEVERE! I only weigh 162 pounds! Could have knocked me over with a feather. "
