My sciatica started during pregnancy and has gotten worse recently. Its this constant annoying, nagging pain, but lately I am getting stronger shots of pain that stop me in my tracks. I haven't really done much to try and relieve it other than massage-and that just seems to make it move to another location. What do you do to manage your pain?

" Just a few things I do that helps,
1. Inversion table. I can be more comfortable on the inversion table at times, I often adjust it to a slightly head low (near horizontal) and sleep there.
2. Pillows. I have a large variety of pillows an experiment with arrangements that are more comfortable, Also look for various surfaces to sleep on, my bed worsens the pain instantly.
3. Vibrating massager, The larger, the better. Use it on the areas that hurt the most,
4. Comfrey Herbal Ointment, I saw a recent article on WEBMD.Com about this stuff, it seems to help a little.
5. Take note of what movements cause the most pain and avoid them. There seems to be two parts to the pain, the nerve pinch and the inflammation, first reduce the inflammation by restricting movement and anti inflammatory meds. then restrict movements that cause the pinch to prevent inflammation from starting up again. once the pain is managed, VERY Slowly begin working on the stretching exercises in order to get your back into better condition.
