People.........why does everyone want to have schizophrenia???? If you do not have it....be glad. If your doctor says you don't have it, and you disagree, get a second opinion. If they say you don't have it, be happy. Look....this disease is very hard to deal with, and it will ruin your life. Most people that get it will never be able to do the things that they love Most peoples families will forever be changed, most people who get full blown schizophrenia will have to be hospitalized numerous time throughout there lives. I myself do not have full blown schizophrenia, and I thank God everyday for that!!!! My illness is severe enough though to have made my life a living hell. I do not wish this on anyone!! Why must so many people seem to WANT to get this??? I can tell you from experience that YOU DO NOT WANT THIS!!! No matter what you think, this disease will wreck you life, wreck your families lives, and you will always have this highly stigmatized illness hanging over your shoulder. You might think that you can handle it, but if you don't get lucky enough to have a mild form, you'll be sorry. So I am asking all of you that seem to want this thing to stop! Don't ask the ones that have to live with this horrrid disease to to tell you that you have it, when you don't. Please, ask your doctor first and see what the expert says before you tell people who have this to diagnose you. Think about it this way. If you thought you had cancer, would you go to the hospital and ask someone who has cancer if you had it??? No....you would not. You would go to the doctor and ask HIM. Now if your doctor says that you have it.....then come on here and ask us to help you. It is insulting for people that are going through this to be asked by people if they have it too. GO TO THE DOCTOR AND ASK THEM TO TELL YOU WHAT'S GOING ON. i MEAN HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF YOUR MOTHER HAD CANCER, AND SOMEONE CAME UP TO YOU AND ASKED YOU IF THEY HAD CANCER?????? YOU WOULD TELL THEM THE SAME THING I AM TELLING YOU. GO TO YOUR DOCTOR AND ASK THEM TO TEST YOU. IF HE SAYS YOU HAVE IT, THEN WE CAN HELP YOU WITH THE THINGS THAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH. IF THE DOCTOR TELLS YOU THAT YOU DONT HAVE IT, DONT ASK PEOPLE WHO HAVE IT TO DIAGNOSE YOU. WE ARE NOT DOCTORS. WE HAVE AN ILLNESS AND ARE ON HERE TO HELP PEOPLE LIKE US AND TO GIVE ADVICE TO FAMILIES OF THOSE YOU HAVE IT. FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF IF YOU ARE SICK.

I don't think anyone actually wants it per se - I think they are worried that they actually have it is all. I personally am worried with the schizoaffective label that I have gotten back and forth from a few doctors, some say yay some say nay. I would love to say nay with 100% confidence, but really not many straight BP people can understand the whole voice when not manic or depressed issue.... It is scary, so that could be why they come here and ask - they tend to do this on a lot of other communities as well. Just my 2 cents.

Well...I have nothing to say to those people that have genuine concerns. We are here to help. And the people that are just curious, I have no problems with. But lets be true to ourselves though. My issue stems with JUST those who seem to want it. The ones one here and on others groups that ask for our advice on their symptoms and then refuse to hear what we say, and continue to post comments about how they believe they have schizophrenia. I mean some people are comparing common life stress, and depression with this terrible disease. I just tend to be insulted by that. I just want them to use the advice givin by people who know what this is like. If they don't agree, then they can ask their doctors.

Obviously you're seeing things from the wrong perspective. Or you think what you have is special or a gift. I dunno.
When a person's mind starts to malfunction, they can panic, they end up jumping to all sorts of conclusions. People come here and explain what is happening to them because you might have some genuine knowledge to give to them. But instead you take it as them wanting schizophrenia? Just a misunderstanding? Schizophrenia has to start somewhere. Tackling the problem when it begins forming is a good idea if you ask me. If you really want to see some attention seekers go look in the self harm section. Not saying all of them are, but...

well...maybe your right. But it was just an observation. And I dont think everyone is doing this, but there are some on here that don't take the advice. And when people who go through it everyday tell them that what they are dealing with doesn't seem to fit any form of schizo, they still insist they have it. I think that the people who have genuine concerns ARE doing the right thing. My comment is for the hypocondriacs that think they have everything.

This reminds me of my sister. When I got my diagnosis the first words out of her mouth were "That is so cool!"
This illness/disorder/curse, however you want to label it, is not something I would wish upon the worst of my enemies. I live in a constant fear of what my mind will conjure next. To imagine someone wanting schizophrenia is just surreal.
