I've been prescribed to Risperdal 1mg.
I was just wanting to know if anyone here used/uses it? And how it has effected you. Thanks ahead of time for the feed back. I've had it for a month but only took it for two weeks because Im scared to gain weight. But if it actually helps my bad brains then I think I'll have to suck it up and take some weight. Maybe it will even help me to leave my hermit shell. Thats all I want is to be normal.. -Tyler. 20, Tn Posted on 05/14/09, 07:05 pm |

i have been in Risp for many years now, lost count, I started on 1MG then went to 3MG then back down to 2MG I am at 2MG right now, might be able to just be on 1, not sure, my shrink passed away and an MD is taking over right now, im hoping they get a new shrink soon, I am way overweight and chalked that up to food intake, although I take Zoloft also and thought that was helping the weight gain. Risp from the day he gave me the 1mg has been a godsend for me, i might ask for 1mg next time i see a new doc, if i could loose some weight, i never got a definitive Diagnosis but the medication really works for me, the only thing was the doseing, i was taking 1 before bedtime, then i kept feeling it was waring off at night, so he had me try half in the morning and half at night, that really didn;t work for me, so i changed it to 1 in the morning, and that really helped,.. take care,.. Michael

i forget the dose i was on but i developed bad akathesia(motor restlessness)on this drug it began as a sense of being uncomfortable in my own skin ,like exess energy i had to move around in futile attemptes to get rid of ,then grew in intensity to intolerable to a mild form of torture that thier was no relief from i even had it in my dreams and those i encountered in my dreams even felt sorry for me i then swicthed to abillify then geodon it still didnt go away seroquel was the only one didnt cause it
i didnt get weight gain from it but if you get akathesia my advice is to swicth to another med and it should go away if you find the right one

I was on zyprexa for at least a couple of years. People ( even )0my mother included, always a great person that pushes treatment at me) started to warn me that there might be a link with a diabetic syndrome to zyprexa. Then months later it came out in the paper that they had discovered the link and there was a real link. I got fed up with the doctors and drug companies for their indifference. I went off it (gradually over a period of a couple of weeks). I had a flakey doctor that took forever to write me a new script (he is a lovely person though). I chose to decompensate rather than take the risk of the side effects. I was a little off for a while and then finally go a scrip for another drug, abilify.
I don't mean to scare you and of course these side effects don't happen to every one. Don't do anything stupid from my advice.
