I've been prescribed to Risperdal 1mg.

I was just wanting to know if anyone here used/uses it? And how it has effected you.

Thanks ahead of time for the feed back. I've had it for a month but only took it for two weeks because Im scared to gain weight. But if it actually helps my bad brains then I think I'll have to suck it up and take some weight.

Maybe it will even help me to leave my hermit shell. Thats all I want is to be normal..

" I've been on risperidal two milligrams. My prolactin went shooting up, and I did gain 20 pounds. I'm now on ziprasidone, and I'm actually loosing weight, but I'm trying very hard. "

" I was on risperidal 2 milligrams too for about 2 years. My prolactin shot up too and i started lactating. I gained 2 stones in weight but now am on abilify 20mg and it seems to be working better. However the risperidal did help my voices for a while. Hope this helps, and i hope it works well for you :) x "

" i think everyone's different. My son gained weight and suffered insomnia on it. He still heard voices but said it helped with anxiety. Be careful in the sun - it can make you burn easy and it's easy to overheat cos it affects body temperature regulation. You're on a small dose, which is good, but you may need more to be therapeutic. As I said it seems to me that risp suits some and not others "

" One of the drugs I am currently on is Risperdal. It helps me with my voices and other symptoms added to the environment of the schizophenic, such as: hallucinations and delusions. There are some draw backs though: I have been concerned that I have gained a little too much energy from it and also that I am not experiencing much sedation. I could go into all the details, but just write me back saying "I want more info on risperdal." and I'll see what more I can dig up based upon what I think is going on.

" dont take it please! i took it for 6years. i got fat and i had no sprem because it kills them. other side effects included very weak legs. i dont take it anymore and sprem is devolping again, legs getting more stable. reseach proves this drug will shorten your lifespan up to 40% if taken long term. " I have been on it 1mg for 2 years now and I LOVE it. I didn't gain any weight at all and I don't have any side effects. I have only heard voices twice and have had 1 vision since i started it. I can't believe how much it has changed my life. I also take 50 mg of benadryl every night to fight off any chance of side effects. My doctor said this works well and boy does it. It made me tired for about 2 weeks but now I am totally used to it. You should ask your doctor about benadryl if you have any symptoms or just ask in general. Maybe you won't gain any weight like I didn't. Best of luck to you and I hope it works as well for you as it has for me. Think positive! "

" I was on a combination of zyprexia, zeldox and risperdal for a little while, but had to discontinue the risperdal. My paranoia and anxiety became so overwhelming I had to be hospitalized. After discontinuing use my anxiety came down to a manageable level. I didnt have any serious weight gain on it though. Best of luck to you though. "
