Methotrexate Question

My Dr. started me on Methotrexate two weeks ago. I take 4 tablets (each is 2.5 mg) once a week so I've only taked two doses. I have an appt. to see him in two weeks. In the daytime I feel a little better, but at night my coughing is worse than ever and I have begun to sleep on the couch so I can sit up when I sleep. I still feel exhausted all the time.

My husband thinks I should call the Dr because my coughing is worse at night. I think I need to give the meds a little time and wait until my appt to mention it.

What are your opinions? I've never had depression, but this is really getting me down.

" Hey Michelle,

I agree that it's good to give the meds time to work, but if the coughing is much worse than before you ahould probably call the doc. These meds are very serious and it is just better to be safe than sorry. I tried the methotrexate pills 3 times with too many side effects and then about 9 months ago my doc put me on the injectable. He also gave me two nausea meds and folic acid and I am tolerating it pretty good. There are also some of the new RA meds that work in conjunction with the metho that are showing promise. My doc was thinking of adding one. We're talking about it next appointment.

But I would definately call the doc if your cough is worse. If nothing else at least the doc knows what's going on. "
