Has anybody had chest pain?

I've been having this tightness in my chest lately. It's not totally debilitating but annoying and it hindering me from doing what I need to do. For example, I stayed home from grad class last night because I just felt awful. I decided to stay home today as well.
I have been under a lot of stress with classes, work and single mommyness.
I have some significant seasonal allergies right now, feel like my lungs are itchy if that makes any sense and have a rash on my arms.
I also have fibromyalgia (gee....we just seem to get more stuff don't we?) so I wonder if this is a combination type thing.
Of course my fear is inflammation in the lining of my heart.
I called to get a nurse assessment this a.m. and she felt that my symptoms were not a heart attack so I'm going in tomorrow as she did insist that I needed to be seen.
Has anyone had this happen to them?

" Not me, but I'm sending you warm hugs and hoping everything is ok!
And good luck with grad school - I remember those days as being fun but terrifying too.

Lynne "

" I have chest pain periodically. My Internist and my Pulmonologist relate it to asthma. A month ago I was in the hospital with a flare up of asthma which led to Pneumonia. Because of the chest pains I was having and some of the blood tests they ran, I went through quite a few heart tests, with a stress test as the final test. The doctors agreed that my heart was healthy and that I had a 1% chance of having a heart attack. So, knowing that, I just try to breathe through the chest pains when they come. I change my position, and work on relaxation techniques. I will be thinking of you as you see your doc. I hope that your answer is as simple as mine. "

" I have had chest pain on a number of occassions and have had my heart thoroughly checked out a couple of times. My heart seems perfectly healthy. I have noticed if I have allergies and drainage, or if I get stressed and have indigestion that i get left sided chest pain and it radiates up my neck. I was going to have surgery to remove a melanoma on my leg and the anesthesiologist came in and requested an ekg. He came back in afterward and said my ekg showed that I had had a heart attack so he sent me to the cardiologist instead of the operating room. That was when I had a second round of tests which showed no abnormalities. We think that maybe there was some muscle spasm in my chest that showed up like a heart attack on the ekg. I have just kind of gotten used to the chest pain coming and going. "

" Mine are caused by costochondritis which I had about 9 months before my RA dx - it stayed with me for nearly a year but is mostly gone now. Where the ribs meet the sternum. Rest and advil was what was prescribed (before my dx) "

" YES, YES. I have had chest pain too, it usually coincides with a flare for me. Definetely get it checked out, I would also considered seeing an allergist and getting a pin prick test to gauge just how allergic your are. It sounds like you are having some bad symptoms, so don't dis-count the "itchy lungs" you could be having a more severe reaction than you think. So get tested.

I hope you find relief soon.

" I thank all of you for your insightful comments! I am sorry that you each have gone through so much and am grateful that I am not alone and in the company of people who both understand and care. Thanks again! I'm going to see my doctor tomorrow and get this checked out. I'll follow up with a post when I get an answer to this mystery. "
