Saturday's Little Victories

Saturday was another busy day. We went back to our hometown (1 1/2 hrs each way) to visit my father-in-law, who has been recovering from knee replacement surgery. We brought him some lunch and visited for a bit. Then we stopped off at my sister's for a few hours - visited with my family and played with the 6 adorable kittens (they are almost ready to go to new homes - my neice and nephews are gonna be really upset when that day comes!) After that, it was off to the lake (10 mins from town) to have a BBQ with friends ( I took it easy and made a lettuce salad as our contribution to the feast!) My friend fosters orphaned wild life, and this time she had a baby squirrel and 7 baby skunks. Not to mention the assorted fish, birds, bunnies, cats, dog, and other little critters they have as pets. The latest pet addition was a baby ferret - sooooo cute! I don't know how many of you have ever seen a skunk up close, but holding the baby skunks really made me think differently about those creatures. The baby skunks were so sweet and loved to be held and cuddled - I had one that under no circumstances would leave. He would curl up under my chin and occasionally sniff my hair and nibble my ears. Then he'd go to sleep. They are really quite gentle creatures!

After dinner, we had fireworks and a bonfire. It was a very late night and I am paying for it today, but it was worth it!

It was a very good day! ~ Kim:)

" I'm a day late with this, as usual, but never mind! My Saturday's little victory was that I was able to ride my Harley on my own for the first time in a year. All arms and legs seem to be working as they should at the moment. It was a lovely feeling.

Those baby skunks sound totally adorable! Hugs, Jennie "

" My Saturday victory was getting some ironing done. My sister also came over and we visited for awhile, and then we went to see "Public Enemies." Over-all a good day. "
