Hello I have had RA for about ten years and for the most part get through it pretty well (some day's however i can barely get out of bed) the only real problem I have is that I am so d@mn tired all the time. There are times that I could fall asleep just sitting at my desk and I have to really try to stay awake. Its not really convenient when i am working. Does anyone else have this or know how to beat the tiredness?

Yes, I am tired of being tired, too. It just plain sucks. Nothing seems to help that part of RA for me.

Same here....I've gotten through like that for several years. I'm on MTX now, and it seems to be working. The worse symptom to deal with for me is that fatigue / tired feeling and it's actually gotten better for me now that I'm on MTX.
Are you on treatment for your RA?

I'm so lucky that I can work at home. (I normally go into the office less than once a month.) When I'm working on a rush project, I'll grab a snack or a cup of coffee to revive myself. Taking a short walk out to the mailbox seems to help too. But if I just can't keep my eyes open any longer and if I'm not up against a hard deadline, I'll lie down for a 15-minute nap. That's a real luxury.

The fatigue is a real problem for me, too. I try to get enough sleep on a regular basis, and allow myself the luxury of sleeping in on the weekends. Still, during the week, I find by 3 pm I am ready for a nap. At work, we have tea time at 3pm, which really helps me get through the last hour and a half of the day. ~ Kim:)

I agree that fatigue is the other side of the RA coin. It is so hard to explain, cause most people think an extra hour of sleep should cure it. Wrong. Another symptom of fatigue for me is it takes me sooooo long to do anything. I'll start to put on my shoes, think, sit, put on one sock, think, sit, put on the other sock, think, sit, well you get the idea. 30 minutes later, I'm still getting on my socks and shoes! I tell myself that is just silly, but I've come to recognize it for what it is, a sign of fatigue.

I agree with all of your postings. I feel tired a lot of time, and sometimes my week-ends are just shot to heck with naps. I can sit down or lay across the sofa to watch an inning of the ballgame and I'm gone for 3 hours. It's not as bad as it was before and right after I was diagnosed, but it is still inconvenient. Fortunately, my boss is a night owl and works late and comes in late, so if I'm 15 or 20 minutes late to work it's not a big deal. It also takes me a lot longer to get things done, and for a long time I had a lot of trouble concentrating. and unless I sleep until noon on the week-ends, I don't feel rested.
It's the pits!

yup. it's awful being so tired all the time. i come home from work, nap, cook dinner, nap, clean the kitchen, get clothes laid out for the next day, and go to bed. and start all over the next day! my weekends are mostly naps, unless we happen to go somewhere on the bike. if we go somewhere in the truck, i'm out before the first stop sign! there's just not enuf time to sleep!

Ditto here as in the other posts. Unfortunately fatigue seems to follow RA. I find I get tired early in the day and once I do I am good for nothing. I also think the pain wears you down and increases the feeling of fatigue. hugs, marci
