Hi Guy, I read your post heading thought "Great, he's feeling all energetic", and then I read it and it wasn't really great news after all! I used to get spotty when I was on Prednisone manyyears ago, so sorry to hear you are too. But at least you still have your sense of humour! Hugs. Jennie

Does predinsone make you feel so much better? No problems with facial acne when I have taken it a couple of times. In fact, if I remember right it help clear up the stuff I did have.

I felt like a teenager again within 1 week of the first and only course of prednisone my doctor would put me on. I didn't get any acne other than the usual "that time of the month" acne. My Rhuemy put me on 30mg a day for a whole month (then slowly tapered off) to get my intial treatment a head start. It cured pain that I have had for many years. I could do cartwheels again and that Russian dance where you squat and kick out your legs. Serioulsy! Its just really too bad that it wears off and so far none of the other drugs have measured up to the releif of the Prednisone. I wish my Rhuemy had warned me. It wasn't good for my mental health to realize that I would likely never feel like that again. At this point both my docs flatly refuse to perscribe any steriods becuase of the long term risks. They consider it a last resort only. Don't know if this is your first try with steriods but they work wonders for most people at the higher doses and I hope it does for you too!

Yay!!! When I was on 20 mg, it was the greatest I felt in my whole life, even better than *when* I was a teenager! I'm at 8 now and missing it. :-(

But, no, I didn't (thank goodness) get the acne. Not more than one here one there like normal Hey congratulations! MAKE THE MOST OF IT!!!!!! lol

Didn't anyone warn you? The acne is to offset the hair loss *lol*

And sorry to say I am at least 20 years your senior and prednisone causes red splotches and acne anytime I am on 40mg or more, but not at lower doses.

(Sorry to hear bout that. Bummer. I don't like the look of my therapeutics and wrist splints, either. A side-effect of this thing isn't extra beauty is it?)

I never got acne with my Pred neither. Sorry. Must be something alse causin it. Have you chenged any Meds . Or washing Pwdr. or anything else you can think of.

Dont have this trouble with prednisone - like another reply started high and gradually eased down.(now on 5mg with mtx) Recently seen a specialist privately (in NZ state health care) who is one of our top experts here. Advised me to take it at night with evening meal. I queried as steroids interfere with sleep patterns but he said as long as early evening meal would be ok. Trouble I have had with it is depression and bone loss. Hope you are into the calcium (and some C and magnesium to help the absorbtion). Maybe the acne a drug interaction, forgot to look up your profile before I started typing thisI All the best
