Dropsies

Over the past 5 days to a week, I have been dropping everything. It's like as soon as I pick something up, it just slips out of my hand (fingers). Last night I picked up my camera, and I didn't even get to switch it on before it left my hand and went flying across the room and onto the floor.

Anybody else get this? I'm not liking it.

" I, too, drop things all the time. Or maybe they just slip from my poor grip.
My family just laughs...they have grown accustom to it. Luckily, nothing has been too damaged. Sorry to hear about your camera, hopefully it survived. "

" Its one of the symptoms I hate the most. Because then you have to bend down and pick whatever it was off the floor. I do it at least 10 times a day. Drives me nuts. The worst is in the bedroom when I drop something and it rolls under the bed! I can't get down on my knees to get it. I'm trying to teach my cat to fetch stuff from under the bed. LOL "

" OMG Bistro, some of my most memorable moments involve the dropsies! Whether due to stiff fingers or weak hands I never know when something will go flying and I do mean flying. One of my favorite moments was in the car on a very hot summer day. I stopped in at McD for a gigunda iced coffee and as I was flying down the highway I reached over to pick the cup out of the cup holder; I raised it to my lips and suddenly my fingers were on vacation and the ice coffee rained down over my shoulder and onto the back seat floor. Needless to say the air was blue and the clothes were wet, lol and I was still thirsty!

At the dinner table, I reach for my fork and it goes sailing over the table, the family never knows what will come flying at them next. I don't even want to tell you what I can do with a gallon of milk or a 2 liter pop bottle. I have learned to laugh at these little episodes, it helps to retain what little sanity I have left, and it really makes me feel glad that I never yelled at the kids for spilling drinks and other things at the table because paybacks are hell!

hugs jilly "

" My hands sometimes feel very clumsy and I find that it takes me longer to do just about anything with my hands. Although as the meds have kicked in, it's not quite as bad. When I was first diagnosed and before that, my hands were pretty bad and I seem to remember dropping things more often. Although I didn't do a lot with my hands because I was usually crashed on the sofa, taking 3 hour naps! Take care of yourself and maybe you should see your doctor. I read the post from MsCowgirl and didn't realize that RA could affect the brain and nerves. So it's probably something you should look into. I hope it goes away as fast as it came! Take care. "

" Hi Bistro, Sorry you're having this problem. I try to be very mindful about using two hands but I still drop things all the time. When a server tries to hand me a plate at a restaurant table instead of placing it, my husband makes a grab for it. I find myself using my forearms and hugging things against myself because I can't trust my hands. It seems when I drop something it's usually a time when I've tried to use one hand alone. Sorry you're going through this, but with 3 pages of replies do far, you are not alone. "

" Yes, that happens all the time to me. Just the other day I had taken a pan of smothered steak out of the oven and there it landed on the floor. I won't even pick up my greatgrand babies for fear I'll drop them. I hold them after I sit down and let someone hand them to me. I guess it is just something else we have to live with and thank God it isn't worse. "
