I, TOO, WAS ON SULFASALAZINE FOR WHILE..I CAN'T SAY IT
DID A LOT OF GOOD, BUT I CAN'T
SAY THAT IT DIDN'T. I TOOK
THAT IN COMBINATION WITH P~ZONE
AND REALLY DIDN'T NOTICE ANY
SIGNIFICANT CHANGES.
SORRY..BUT IT DOES WORK FOR
SOME OR THEY WOULDN'T USE IT..

I took it years ago and it sent me to remission for 4+ years, but unfortunately I came back way further dodwn the road. My brother presently takes it for a milder case, 1000mg twice a day. It's worked well, but he says it's beginning to fade after about 4 months. He says sensitivity to sun is his biggest side-effect. Good luck!

I am currently on SULFASALAZINE along with SULDNIAC it helps a very little with the pain. Still feel the stiffness and very very tired.

It worked really well for me, but does cause a lot of stomach upset. Make sure you eat food before you take it if you start to notice issues. I think it's a great drug for some people. You'll probably know after a few weeks if it's working for you, of course everyone is different. Good luck!

I used it for a very short course about 10 years ago - only thing I recall is a skin rash.

Thanks so much for the replies. It's helpful. Yesterday was the first day I took it. My stomach felt kind of crappy and something(?) I'm already taken has started with making me sensitive to the sun - so summer should be fun.

I was on that years ago. Helped a little for the pain, but it caused problems with my stomach

I have been on Sulfasalazine for a few months. To be honest I haven't seen an improvement.

Sulfasalizine has been a part my life" for about 6 years! LOL
Yes, I have RA and this drug, plaquenil and prednisone were the ONLY drugs my body didn't react to harshly. OK the pred no!

I have at times skipped my sulfa, and my body started to hurt. I haven't had any side effects that I know of. I do get scared wondering what is going on inside of me.

Yes have taken this for 8 years with no problems and with no real evidence that it made a big difference - BUT now that i have had to come off it as my skin has suddenly reacted to it and got VERY sun sensitive - i now know what good it DID do as my RA is much worse. My doc is now looking for something else to use that will be as effective to use in combination with other meds.
