I think there is something called voltran ...something like that. I never used it but maybe someone else can correct my spelling and give you some info on it.

I think you mean Voltaren. It's a cream that I put on my knees and finger joints. I don't recall the drug it replaces but I do know it helps to reduce the pain and inflammation. It's prescription only and comes in large tubes. It comes with a chart to show you the recommended amount.
Ask your doctor about it and he/she can give you the low-down on the drug. Lynne

Just read your profile and it looks like you might be newish to RA - it can take quite a while for your pain to settle, right drug combo etc. Voltaren is diclofenac (also called cataflam) and the cream could help. Also wrapping your hands in warm damp towels, soaking in hot water. Hope it is reassuring for me to say for a portion of us pain comes and goes . Sometimes weather, personal stress etc. I had about a year of very bad wrist pain, wearing brace etc and used voltaren then (with other things) and also found magnetic bracelet cut pain by quite a bit. The wonderful state even shouted me six weeks of physiotherapy and that really helped. At the moment after some weeks spent in very hot humid climate I am in a semi remission and cant believe how painfree I am and the wrist in particular. Good luck, will watch for your posts.

Hey!
I'm about to post something else in this discussion about something that I have just started on. I went to see a herbalist about this stupid arthritis and I have just started on a homeopathic treatment called Zeel. They have it in tablet and ointment form and it claims to be as effective as Cox 2 inhibitors. Check out a herbalist see what they say. THere is also something called Traumeel that is available in ointment and tablet form, but it is to my understanding that Zeel is a bit more powerful. Check out heel.ca for details on both of these products.

For me, Stop Pain is helpful. You can find it over the counter at Walgreens or online.

I don't get much relief from topical analgesics. If I do use something I have found that a product called Cobroxin (Yes it has cobra venom in it) does help with my ankles and feet when they are going crazy. Also if you are a fan of Ben Gay or similar products Walgreen's has a house brand "ultra strength muscle rub" that is stronger than any of the ben gays, cheaper and the amount you get is more for the money.
