After spending the weekend in the pool, which I haven't done in years, I noticed that my hands and wrists blew up like a balloon. I had a little sunburn, nothing big. Has anyone here experienced that while being in the sun? I am currently only on aleve and aspirin when I am in pain, no major meds right now. I was on an antibiotic at the time, so maybe it was caused by that???

Did you just loung in the pool, or were you active. Keep in mind, the reason water arobics is so popular is because you don't realy feel it while your doing it. It's after the fact. So a day in the pool can put strain on your body without you even noticing it. I'm usually sore after a dip with the kids, as well as tired. Although I've never been swollen. But each of us respond differently.
And then again, it could be the antibiotics. Some RX's require staying out of the sun. Either way, I'm sorry to hear it happened.

I know that it was kind of a stupid question, but I was a little worried because I had not had a reaction to the sun like that before. Also, I heard that Lupus can cause a reaction like that. I honestly only soaked in the pool for no more than 2 hours. I will ask my Doc and check on the side effects of the pills. I am usually pretty good at doing that before I take them but I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced the blown up hands after being in the sun. Thanks Tanyan for responding!

A lot of antibiotics will cause swelling if you are in the sun. I get rashes everytime, its not an allergic reation but from the antibiotics. Good luck. DEbbie

thanks deb, still waiting to see if anyone else has had this happen or if they also have heard that it is a sign of lupus.

Hi Xanadu. I have just been on holiday and despite the sun block I got a bit of a tan. I didn't swell up but I did get some hideous looking spots. I never used to have this problem. I think it may have something to do with the meds. Hope you feel better soon.
