Yesterday my rheumy perscribed minocin..after I asked for it after reading how many of you were taking it and having good results....what time of the day is best for you? Enbrel didn't work and I had scary episodes of rapid heart and shortness of breath. I am not used to taking so many pills...mthx, folic acid , fluid pill, prednisone (trying to taper down) pain killers, calcium and vitamins. There's hardly any room in my dispenser. To be specific what time of day is best for you.... I also got 2 cortisone shots in my shoulders which help.......Thanks...memmay

Hi. I have been on minocin for many many years. I take 200 mg a day. One 100mg in the morning with breakfast and one in the evening with dinner. If you take it on an empty stomach it can nauseate you. I have had great success with minocin. It actually put me in a remission for 2 years. My doctor wanted me off it and I went back into a flare, but am back on it now. That is another story. ANyway, a wwonderful side effect for me is that because I am on low dose antibotics, I don'[t get sick like most here on the site do. Also, it gives my skin a glow of healthiness. I look like I just got back from a vacation all year round. Do be careful in the sun, it can increase your tendency to burn. Good luck!
