I am 29 and was diagnosed with RP about 5 yrs ago. I was told to only drive during the day. I never noticed or had trouble driving at night. But the tests showed my vision has diminished. Living with RP has been had. I have a regular specialist but am always scared to see him, I want to keep driving. Well I just got the news this past monday that I can no longer drive at all. It has been hard. I knew this day would come, I just didn't expect it to happen so soon. I feel numb right now and coping with this is so hard. This condition is hard period. Just need some extra help from someone who understands.

I'm sorry to hear that Tme80. I went through the same thing last year. I did recognize I was having issues with people or even cars popping-up out of nowhere.
Do you know how many degrees of field vision you have. I'm at 20 which makes me legally blind, so I had been driving well under the legal limit for some time. I live in FL, and the limit is 140 degrees. I checked NM and it is" 120 degrees in the horizontal meridian, with at least 30 degrees in the nasal field of one eye" You can check each state here: http://www.lowvisioncare.com/visio... I know how tough it is, I had to stop working in my career at the same time. It's been about 11 months, and I've learned to get around, I also moved to an area where I am close to many things I like; beach, restauarnts stores, and close to a bus stop. Hang in there, you're not alone... Mike

I developed what is believed to be RP at a much later age. In reverse, though, at 25 - I COULDN'T drive due to other health issues for many years. So, I know how difficult it is to just have a life - be it getting to work, shop, social life, etc. Driving was a gift once I was able to but now, despite my finally overcoming one health issue, I'm now worried that at any time I could face same as you. I live every day worried that I could soon be told the same. I have no advice to give - just understanding and my support.
