Looking forward is not easy. All i can see is the new losses and the contniual struggles. Know that i have to do this one day at a time but even that feels hard. I was aware yesterday going shopping how painful and diorientating it is to loose your sight. I look out through these broken eyes and i feel broken and damaged and that is how others see me -

Most of the time i feel pure free floating anxiety about my eyes. reading this groups entries just makes me feel sadder and madder. Well on the 10th I took Evan for his 6 month checkup and we recieved the most phenomenal news!!! His vision last tested was 20/100..now he tested 20/80. Dr. Blackburn sees no sign that the disease is progressing or even doing anything!!!!! Now we go back in march for another checkup. If progression is showed we will have to do the flourescine angiogram again but hopefully we will still be doing t... -

Hiya boys and girls. It's been a while since I've updated this. I had laser surgery on my eyes to try to clean up some of this foggy crap I've been looking thru, it did help some. Last week was a nervous week, My wife had 2 biopsies on Tuesday for breast cancer. 3 days of waiting for results. Luckily they turned out negative. Have a great day!!!!1 Comment -

Well Evan goes back to his retinal specialist on November 10th and we do all those wonderful light tests and stuff so that he can be sick for hours. But i'm hoping for good news. Let's just hope nothing has changed. We will be going after that to Kosair's children's hospital for gentetic testing. I can not believe it's Oct already. I quit smoking in the middle of August, and those first few hours and days seemed to drag. I wasn't sure I could make it through the day, much less through a week or a month or two. Now, here I sit with rarely a thought of a cigarette, when I see someone smoking, I notice how foolish it looks, and I notice the strong stale odor.

Retinitis Pigmentosa Information
Retinitis pigmentosa, or RP, is a genetic eye condition. In the progression of symptoms for RP, night blindness generally precedes tunnel vision by years or even decades. Many people with RP do not become legally blind until their 40s or 50s and retain some sight all their life. Others go completely blind from RP, in some cases as early as childhood. Progression of RP is different in each case.
RP is a group of inherited disorders in which abnormalities of the photoreceptors (rods and cones) or the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) of the retina lead to progressive visual loss. Affected individuals first experience defective dark adaptation or nyctalopia (night blindness), followed by constriction of the peripheral visual field and, eventually, loss of central vision late in the course of the disease.
