Hi, I was told that I have an epiretinal membrane that might need surgery at some point. I am nervous about it, anybody have advice.

Did the doctor give you an Amsler Grid? You need to monitor your vision and make sure to report any abrupt changes to them ASAP. I have observed this surgery performed and it is basically a membrane (like a cigarette wrapper) that has grown over the central vision. They go in and peel it away...it is the post op that is worst-having to keep the head down for X amount of days....they normally do a vitrectomy-where they remove the fluid from the eye and put new liquid in thus clearing up the "floaters"...good luck...
