Hi, I was told that I have an epiretinal membrane that might need surgery at some point. I am nervous about it, anybody have advice.

" Did the doctor give you an Amsler Grid? You need to monitor your vision and make sure to report any abrupt changes to them ASAP. I have observed this surgery performed and it is basically a membrane (like a cigarette wrapper) that has grown over the central vision. They go in and peel it away...it is the post op that is worst-having to keep the head down for X amount of days....they normally do a vitrectomy-where they remove the fluid from the eye and put new liquid in thus clearing up the "floaters"...good luck... "
