PLMD and stimulants/Concerta Vs Adderall XR as Sti

So here's my info: I have PLMD (Periodic Limb Movements Disorder) but I do not have Restless Legs. In addition to frequently waking up in the early stages (I do not think I reach REM that often or for that long) I have a bunch of medical problems that worsen when I sleep. I'm basically a walking zombie during the day. I've tried various medications but nothing has been effective, and we are still trying to get my iron up to 50.

As a result, I've begged my doctor to let me try a stimulant. I actually wanted Adderall XR or even dexidrine, because I've taken it from my boyfriend off the radar a few times to see if works on me. It does-- its ridiculous how much better my cognitive functioning is on it. I can actually formulate sentences and you know, not walk into walls.

The problems is, my doctor prescribed my concerta to try first-- adderall if it does not work. I wasn't exactly going to be like, well I have taken this drug illegally but for my own benefit, just to test it out, because doctors aren't always that understanding about such things. So I was prescribed concerta. I haven't tried it yet, however. I have read things about concerta causing sleepiness which is not what I need at all! But I've also read it really works for some people, if doesn't you know, make them crazy.

Mind you, I also need to be able to sleep at least a litle bit a night. At this point I don't even care about getting my full REM, I don't want to you know, fall asleep during an exam and fail. I just want to feel awake. I haven't had any problems falling asleep on Adderall or Dex, for the record, since I am usually too tired by then anyways.

So questions:

Has anyone taken Concerta or Adderall XR for daytime sleepiness?
How have your experiences been if you have taken both?
Which one keeps you more awake?
How is concerta's crash vs Adderall XR?
Concerta side effects
Can concerta or other stimulants might make PLMD worse?

Sorry for so many, if I can get just one answer that would be great.
Thanks!

" Sorry your going threw such a hard time, join our world, ive taken both, they both do the same thing, i think the adderall is alittle stronger, but doctors dont like giving it, because some ppl like to snort it and get high, or sell it, This problems makes it bad for the ones that do need it, Try the concerta, you may like it, but at least let your dr. know that youve tried it and if it doesnt work, then ask about changeing, Most doctors sterio type us within minutes of meeting them, you have to let them know that you know what they are doing, I told my doctor, after trying everything they suggested me to take and do, and then it didnt work, i told them , i did it your way, so now lets try my way, Get them to listen to you, if they dont, FIND ANOTHER, because they are not interested in helping you, if you truely are looking for relief and not just a high. good luck to you "

" dont know what your other problems are, but sleep apnea can give those symptoms. I'd fall asleep driving if I didnt pull over and catnap in the back seat when I felt it coming on.
Have you had a sleep test? they also can diagnose RLS and PLMD that interfer with sleep.
After trying everything, Mirapex was the one thing that got me from sleeping only 9 minutes at a time to 3-5 hours at a time. Of course, I now sleep sitting semi-reclined on a bunch of pillows like Cleopatra or something, and that helps the breathing, but it was the Mirapex that stops me from waking.
I'm going to miss it. "
