Advice:
When Mirapex is not enough

Well I've had RLS as far back as I can remember and am now on Mirapex one tablet a night 2 hours before bed for the past year.

While it doesn't stop the jumping it does ease it a little altho i can still spend hours tryin to get to sleep, but if i don't take it then i get no sleep at all, also when it is my time of the month nothing helps.

My question is this, is there anything else i could be takin as well as the Mirapex to help me ease the symptoms or should i go to docs and say it's not effective enough.

Am desperate for a good nights sleep.

" I tab did not work for me so my dr. doubled it and I now sleep like a baby. I take it at 800 p.m. regardless of what time I go to bed. But I'm usually in bed by 10 or 10:30.

I hope this helps. "

" I also take Magnesium which helps a little as well. Mirapex usually works well for me for the pain at night but for some reason it does not help during the day. Also, I still have the jumping too but it doesn't interfere with my sleep, just annoys my husband. I have RLS morning, afternoon & night unfortunately. It has been great for nighttime but I usually wake up anywhere from 4 - 6 most mornings from the pain. I take .50 Mirapex then and percocet which takes about 45 minutes to kick in and then I can fall asleep again.

What did your doctor advise when you saw him? "

" Thanks for the replies, well he doubled my mirapex so am takin 2 tabs now but am taking them really earely and it seems to be helpin, now gettin 4-5 hours of sleep oinstead of 2-3. am still waking up at night and am still taking magnesium and calcium tablets. I also take 30 mg amytriptalene (sp) again so i think they are helpin me drop off to sleep as well.

Am gonna give it a few weeks to see how it all goes on, if not effective enough then back to the drawin board. "

" Well here's an update.

I take my 2 0.88 mg tabs of mirapexin about 7pm at night and take my amytriptalene 30mg about 10pm. my calcium and magnesium i take in the mornin, I also make sure i exercise everyday even if its just a walk but mostly i go bike ridin after 2pm and do u know what it is helpin.

i mean i'm not cured or anything but instead of 2 hrs of sleep a night i am now gettin about 5-6 hrs per night which is a big improvement for me.

I still get rls but its not so bad that i cant sleep and am still gettin it in the day and of course around my period time it still gets worse than any other time but at the moment am feelin very happy to just be gettin some sleep... "

" That's great it has improved somewhat. I find that any exercise makes my RLS worse but I know it is imporatant I find somethng cardiovascular to keep heart healthy. I have triied biking but the RLS starts getting worse during. That's great that biking is helping you. Also, I take magnesum mornng & night so you mght weant to check with your doctor on that. "
