I've had Restless leg syndrome now for about 4 years. I'm fine during the day. But at night it's so bad I want to cut my legs off. It's horrible. MY problem is that I have gone to my doctor several times about having some kind of treatment and he denies me any meds. All he tells me is to stretch or go on a walk right before bedtime. Which is so stupid, cause it doesn't do anything. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice for me. Anything help anyone that I could try at home, maybe over the counter stuff or remedies?

Why havn't you found another doctor. The one you have sounds like an a hole who hates women.
You don't have to be this miserable. There are plenty of meds out there to help alleviate some of the symptoms. good luck

Hello greetings from Spokane. My elsdest daughter graduated from CWU.
You need a new doctor for this problem. This is still a relatively new medical condition, one there wasn't even a name for when I started suffering. You need to see a neurologist. Do not let your present dactor just get away with this attitude. He has no idea what you are going through. I do. I was ready to commit suicide over it at one point. Going without sleep for days, weeks, months at a time will do that to a person.

Yes, get a new doc. Mirapex and REqup are approved for treatment of RLS, and many other meds work. If you go to RLS.org you can get a listing of docs (neurologists, GP's and other docs) that are informed and interested in treating RLS patients. GOOD LUCK! Post again if you have other questions, this group is very helpful. There is also a helpful message board at bb.rls.org

Ktrent - it is also important to find out if you have a ferritin (type of iron) deficiency. This is not the same thing as anemia, which is low hemeglobin. This is a very common and simple cause of RLS. It takes a few months to get your iron level up with supplements. RLS sufferers need to get their ferritin in the 70-150 range, while folks in the non-RLS population need a ferritin level of about 12. SOme docs will order iron injections or infusions and many women in particular are helped by this. Good luck.

Get a new doctor, that must be number one. Be very careful, though, about use of drugs. I was astonished to find how effective Ropinerol was 12 months ago - now I'm doing a cold turkey to get rid of the stuff.
