Hi Ann,
i have some answers for your husbands Torisel rash, my Tim had the rash also pretty bad last January this year when he started the Torisel and he usually gets a mild or sometimes worse one still but thats nothing to be worried about... First let me tell you what our first oncologist said to us, getting a rash is a good sign that means the Torisel is working alot of people don't get the rash, but people who do get one and continue to always have a slight rash from time to time have a better chance with shrinkage.... Now on to whats good to use but your oncologist has to prescibe it, the good cream that works the name of it is Clobetasol Propionate cream 0.005 % you apply it twice a day on all area's where the rash is...., If it's not a real bad rash sometimes a Hydrocortisone cream 1% could help but it didn't help Tim to much,.... Being on a steroid called dexamethasone 2mg's is good that takes the rash away completely, Tim now cuts them in half and takes one half right after treatment for 3 days and he never gets a rash only sometimes a slight one but nothing bothersome.... Your husband needs to stay out of direct sun light and the humidity will make the rash worse and i also know something else that brings Tim rash out really bad are hot showers... Tim will get out of a hot shower and his face, neck, back and chest are all red and pimply, and the pimply is also part of the rash... When he shaves using hot water bothers his face and the razor will also do a job too Tim's face is sensitive to the razor and his neck is red and gets pretty sore..... You should call your oncologist to inquire about the cream i told you about first and if that doesn't do the trick then ask about a low dose of Dexamethasone which he could use the night after the treatment and 2 days after... Please stay away from every day ceams that you use they all have fragrence in them and that will irratate his skin...If you get a fragrence free one that he could use in between the clobetasol Propionate that would keep his skin soft i have tried that but Tim does fine with the presription cream and dexamethasone... Your oncologist should be more than glad to prescribe that for you and the cream should do the trick and the dexamethasone should only be used if the cream is not effective enough.... I hope this helps him only and take an antihistamine if the oncologist is aware of it, your husband should not have to suffer with a rash side effect, there are so many prescibe things that can be subsribe, there is no need to suffer with a rash when he doesn't have to in the first place....If you ever have any questions on anything, side effects, anything you need to know about Torisel please don't hesitate to ask me, i'm am the one that did all the research on all kidney cancer drugs and i picked Torisel for Tim and i think it's the best treatment out for kidney cancer and Tim and i are very pleased with what it has done for him, his lung tumor and all nodules are stabilized for 7 months now, and i can't ask for anything better than that....Ann, you have a great day and pllease never hesitate to write me...
