My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 renal carcinoma. It is in her left kidney, liver, and lungs. The mass on her left kidney is 15cm, and the urologist will not remove her kidney. Has anyone else had a situation where they were told it would not be beneficial to remove the kidney?

Hi mariesarita,
My partner is in a very similar situation to your mum. They won't remove his kidney either, it's just too big, and seems it has spread too far. It's a horrible feeling, I know. I can't give much advice - I'm still very new to all this. All I would say is that, no matter what the docs say, don't give up hope! I've been in touch with someone here in the UK who was on Sutent for a year, by which time his kidney tumour had shrunk so much that they were able to remove it. Very much a best case scenario, I know, but, hey.... I just wish all the best to you, and I hope that you get some sort of treatment plan in place for your mum. love meriel

Hi. My husband is in the same situation, only they did remove his kidney. Unfortunatly, it had already spread. The best thing I can say to you is don't give up hope. Don't stop fighting and praying. God works in wonderous ways. Although this is a scary time for you and your family, trust the doctors. They don't know everything. However, it may be in your mom's best interest to leave the kidney in. God Bless You! Love, Beca

Hi, the others here are right! My cousin just called me yesterday, and he was supposed to be 'gone' by now, and his dr's are mystified he's beating the odds on his stage four cancer. Bless your mum, and you for being such a wonderful daughter. Prayers abound. love, Hunter

Hi Mariesarita,
My husband, stage 4, mets in R adrinal and lungs. R kidney removed, L adrinal removed 7/22 at a major medical center. Local doc said they would not remove kidney or adrinal because it had spread and kidney mass was too large at 10cm. Check at large hospital they think differently than some small ones. He is doing well so far after the surgery!!
