Chemo started yesterday

My Mom started her chemo yesterday and still seems to be okay. I know it takes a few days before she feels poorly, so I am just going to cross my fingers and wait. The doctor is going to give us a schedule today. We hope she is well enough to fly from New Jersey to Louisiana for my daughters wedding on August 7. My biggest problem is getting her to eat. She has lost 12 pounds in a month, but is doing so much better since she got that nasty kidney out three weeks ago. Her white blood count is low so she is getting shots for that. They did tell her she has a spot on her liver, but the chemo would take care of that.

" Your mom is definitely on the right track. Hang in there, and we'll all be praying that your mom will be up to the trip to Louisiana for the upcoming wedding. Congratulations, by the way!

Love,
Ingrid "

" My Mom handled the chemo very well. I know it is only the first treatment but we have passed day three with the only complaint being minor heartburn. Thank God she has taken a liking to Vanilla milkshakes so hopefully she does not lose any more weight. Now me, I could lose about 10. "

" good luck and well wishes for your mom. stay strong! my father is going through is 19th infusion of torisel next week and has started feeling the effects of chemo. He is a bit anemic and lost a bit of weight. HOWEVER, with the support from his family it would be tough to go through chemo week in and week out. it definitely takes a toll out of you. he is staying strong and positive and playing bowling as well!
