Hi,

Rae again, I am 7 weeks post radical left nephrectomy. I have been on 40 mg of Lasix for years and now the doctors want me to take 20 mg as needed to be easier on the remaining kidney.

The past several days my stomach has been sore and distended from above the belly button down the incision underneath it. And my ankles have swelled to the point I have to take the ankle bracelet I was given off as it is leaving a groove when it was big.

Has anyone had these symptoms? I worry too much perhaps but I am soo tired of this. The doctor on my checkup last week said pathology brought my tumor to just uunder 4 centimetres and he could have done a partial - well too late for that one now.

Thank you for your support, I hope I am able to get on to read replies quickly.

My plan is to sit with my feet up most of tomorrow and drink water till I float away.

Rae

" lasix are really hard on your kidneys since you now only have 1 I would work harder on drinking water and taking less lasix. I dont know why you take it but if their is something else that is easier on your kidney you may want to switch. I am 7 months out but my stomach was the same way. I swelling right now but I think it is because I am not drinking enough water. good luck in recovery. "

" Hi,
My surgry was in Nov of 07 and have had real bad leg swelling and was allowed to go on water pills everyday and it has helped a lot. Sleeping with your legs up and ancles above the heart is a good way to deal with the swelling also.
Take heart about the partial removal, it was most likly a better move to remove the entire kidney than doing a partial as these boards will attest.
Good Luck
Don
PS, Get a larger ankle braclet "
