I just found out two days ago I have a 2cm RCC. My urologist wants to remove my entire kidney. I am only 34 years old, and I have two small children. My mother died of colon cancer when I was a only 5, so I am terrified the same is going to happen to me. I have friends and family offering support, but I feel so alone right now. I haven't even had two full days to process this information, so I'm still a little shocked right now. Can anyone offer me some words of encouragement?

Hello,
I was also diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma last Friday. The tumor is 1.6 which I guess is very small. I had no symptoms or anything which was scary. I found out because I was also diagnosed with tuberous sclerosis in Feb. when my baby was diagnosed by having seizures. She saved my life! Because I had the MRI's they found it very early. I see the doctor next Friday but I guess they will do a partial nephrectomy but I am not sure. I think I sign papers in case they need to take the whole kidney. This was found from a kidney biopsy that was almost not done...thought it was an angiopyloma because I have TSC...I am 34 with a 4 year old and 1 year old...I am scared to death also!!!

I guess a kidney biopsy tells if the cancer has spread?? My name is Amy if you ever would like to talk to me...going through the same thing.....
