Finding Help if you have RSD

I have had so many problems getting the appropriate treatment for my RSD/CRPS. I have been to many, many doctors. All of them simply want to send you to a "Pain Clinic". Those of you with RSD know that pain is a big part of RSD, but it is not the ONLY effect on your body.
I had to get on the Internet and do a lot of research. I was lucky enough to find Dr. Robert Schwartzman, based in Philadelphia, PA. He is Dean of Neurology at Drexel University and runs the ONLY RSD Institute in the USA. Unfortunately, there is a two year waiting list for an appointment (I am scheduled for 2011). However, he might consult with your UNIVERSITY AFFILIATED NEUROLOGIST. Try calling his office and see if he is able to do so. Dr. Schwartzman is probably the top physician/Neurologist, treating people with RSD/CRPS. Since it is such a complicated disease, most physicians do not understand ALL of the effects this disease has on your body. Mostly, physicians just send you to a Pain Clinic. That is only treating ONE part of this "many Parts" disease. I've learned that I just have to take control, study the reports and find the best health care professionals in my area or close to me. If anybody has any questions, I can give you links to Dr. Schwartzman's biography and everything he has written and published. We need to stick together, otherwise, we are all going to go CRAZY, just because of this terrible disease. Posted on 10/14/09, 11:10 am |

Here is Dr. Schwartzman's bigraphy and information at Drexel University. http://www.drexelmed.edu/Home/Abou... He is the Dean of Neurology at Drexel and runs the only RSD/CRPS Institute in the United States. Unfortunately, there is a two year waiting list, to see him. His office did refer me to his "partner", based in Florida. I forgot his name, but his office can tell you.
With regards to New Zealand, I have a book of specialist around the world and there are many in Australia, so I don't know if that is a possibility for you. The book is published my medifocus.com. It is worth the investment and you can go on line (up to one year after purchase) for new information. Dr. Schwartzman's office is very kind and they will answer questions or give you advise on who to look for help, in your area.
