Hi All-
I'm curious to know if anyone has any personal theories about RSD. It can be regarding any aspect. In addition to having it and talking to others with it, the folks I know with it and I have realized we have some similar ideas about some peices of it. Here are some ideas: a) There is a hereditary predisposition for RSD. Seems to be a familial history of depression, maybe others with chronic pain even(Factor P is inversely affected by seratonin. Factor P is what giving us the fire burning pain.) On one side of my own family others have chronic pain conditions and depression. b) Environmental factors contributed to the RSD onset, could be stress, depression, pushing oneself. I am a believer that heredity + ideal (or non ideal conditions) enviroment+ inciting incident come together and made my simple accident not a simple accident. c) Autoimmune imperfection I have spoken to others who have this same interesting issue, I do not have immunity from my shots. I have nada MMR titre, although I have had more than the required vaccines. I believe this to be an inherited factor, as one of my children is lacking immunization immunity. This is something you may not even be aware of, unless you either worked in healthcare or got an illness you were immunized for. Anyhoo... I'm waiting on baited breath to hear anyone else's theories...LOL Posted on 06/14/09, 10:06 am |

I've been thinking about this, too. It may be a predispostion for our systems to react to certain tramas, etc. due to immunity factors, adrenal overload, hormone levels, and /or an overwrought sympathetic nervous system and how it operates in those of us when affected by trama or pain.
I had Graves disease prior to my lightning injury. After the injury, my thyroid had a mind of its' own, and was uncontrollable with meds. I ended up having it removed. Since then I was undertreated for years for my thyroid hormone needs, and ended up with Hasimotos and exhausted adrenal glands. I think it's all contributed to the progression of my muscle weakness and pain. My mother has a pain problem from a blow to her face, and she has been found to have hypothyroidism.
