I have been taking lyrica for 12 months, at first i didnt think it was working so the doctor said to stop taking it, well, talk about unwell, i was only on a small dose 75mgx2 daily and my hand went into overdrive, my specialist said it must have been having a good affect on the hand so he increased my dose-150mgx2. i find when i increase i lose about 9 days to confusion and feeling unwell, im still unsure if its doing much good as the hand is still extremely painful to say the least. to put it mildly, its agony. so what do the doctors say, "we'll increase the lyrica, 150mgx3"!!! maybe the higher dose will be the thing that helps, here's hoping, will let you all know. :^)

I've had RSD since July 2004 and couldn't even stand for air to touch my foot, ankle or leg, due to hyper-sensitivity. I was put on Lyrica, along with pain meds etc..., in '06. At first, like Chachalal... said, I felt it wasn't helping. My Dr. kept upping the dosage and I began noticing less sensitivity and burning pain. I was unable to walk without crutches and most of the time required a wheelchair. Now, I'm happy to report, I can walk (although at times it isn't pretty LOL!) most of the time. My leg, hip, ankle and foot still give me trouble every day; ie: pain, burning, weakness, cold and swelling, but I don't have the tenderness or sensitivity everyday. I call it my miracle drug because I don't think I would be where I am today without it. I'm on the max dosage so I hope it keeps working for me and I hope it works as well for you. Sorry, I didn't mean to write a book. LOL

I have posted the terrible side effects of Lyrica on other parts of this site. Yes, I was placed on Lyrica for seven months. Prior to taking Lyrica, I weighed 165 pounds, had beautiful teeth and was addicted to NOTHING! Unfortunately, after starting Lyrica (the only medication addition/change), I gained over eighty (80) pounds. Most of my front teeth were completely destroyed; I have spent 25K dollars for a "temporary fix", will need to spend another 25K dollars for permanent fix. Then, to top it off, when I stopped taking the medication, the withdrawals were horrific! I did a lot of research on the Internet and discovered that I was not the only one. In fact, this one gentleman said that he was addicted to Morphine in his past. He added that withdrawing from Lyrica was worse than withdrawing from Morphine! I thought it "was just me", until I started researching and researching Lyrica. This drug has harmed so many people and almost destroyed my life. Granted, all people are different and medications effect them differently, however, the medication should not have such severe side effects, as to destroy your entire life!
My recommendation to anyone considering Lyrica, is to RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH! You will find SO many people that have had such terrible experiences with this drug. I am stuck now, because it is very difficult to find an attorney to take on Pfizer, however, I will find that ONE attorney that has the knowledge and skill, to go after a huge pharmaceutical company, like Pfizer! I cannot afford 50,000.00 dollars, for SEVEN months of using Lyrica! Yes, I can lose weight and I can get over the withdrawals, but my teeth were perfect, before Lyrica! All I want, is for my teeth to be back to "normal" and not hurt and look terrible. Over my entire lifetime, I have been on all kinds of prescription medication. You name it and I have probably had it. That is why I know that I am not "sensitive" to any medication on the market. Having RSD is awful enough, but to compound that by morphing from a decent looking individual, to a TROLL makes my life that much harder! Try another medication, if you can!
