have had rsd in my left foot for almost a year, this is the first time having it over winter being able to walk. ive found that since ive started walking again i can only wear flip flops, anyhting closed makes my oot swell and go black, ect. but with the winter my feet are really really cold, with temps going below zero proper footwear would be good. any advice on this?

" I know the real ones are expensive but if you can get some UGG boots or a cheaper version, you don't wear any socks with them as the inside keeps your feet very warm and toasty and for me I feel that I want to wear them ALL year long due to how comfortable they are even with my right foot that swells up making it hard to wear most shoes for very long at all. I can wear my UGG boots all day even if my foot does swell up as they stretch and have lots of room.
It's like being able to wear your favorite house slippers in public without looking ridiculous.
RSD started in my right foot 11 1/2yrs ago and I couldn't wear ANY shoe on my right foot for almost 2yrs. Back then they didn't have UGG boots or I didn't know about them so I was stuck wearing a huge "elf slipper" along with a real left shoe for that entire time.
I promise you will love these as I do. Even though they are very warm, they don't cause extra burning either.
I hope this helps you as much as it has for me,
Rhonda, IN "

" PS: Also these boots do NOT rub on your foot/feet while walking. I have to buy a 1/2 size bigger than I used to for things like this but try a pair on, walk around the store.
I also saw on a Payless commercial they have their own kind called Air Walkers; just like UGG boots.
I totally understand how hard it is to find shoes you can wear for any length of time and by far my Uggs are my favorite pair and I'm getting a pair in black for a combo Birthday/Christmas gift.
I would try only the Classic Short boot for the best fit and comfort.
I hope you have a wonderful and Happy Thanksgiving "

" I found them last year. I don't wear mine in the house, but they have helped me in the cold weather. I have a severe problem with excessive prespiration with the RSD, and my feet have this same problem- except during winter- they are so weird- they are freezing and prespiration is dripping at the same time- wouldn't believe it unless I had seen it.
I too recommend the shorter style. It helped so much since I don't have to wear the socks and put too much on my feet. I found a pair of Merrell's for summer that I've lived in for the last four years. My RSD started with my left foot and then spread so I understand exactly where you are coming from. Suggest you try to wear them on carpet just to make sure you can tolerate them. I've tried so many different shoes over the years, and I try to do this to see if I can tolerate before having additional expense. Best wishes coming your way.Have seen advertised sales- that would be added bonus. Also I didn't know to check the Payless brand. "

" Funny- I'm having the same problem, can only wear flip flops, which isn't ideal in freezing cold weather or in the snow. So I'll go try them too- thanks for the info everyone! "

" Anyone who has this problem should try the UGG boots. I highly recommend them to anyone with feet that are in pain and swell.
I hope Nickyy gets her pair and I just got a 2nd pair in black for a Birthday/Christmas combo present. I LOVE them.
I have a pair of dark gray ones that don't fit me. I wear a size 7 in the Uggs but for some reason this pair seems to be at least a 1/2 size too short. I want them to go to someone with RSD and am willing to send them to anyone that wants them and most of all needs them.
If you wear a size 6 to 6 1/2, please let me know if this could help you. They are marked size 7 but they aren't a true fit as I found after getting my new black ones.
I will make another post about this if I don't hear from anyone on this post.
These are Ugg Boots in dark gray but they must have been marked wrong; Never worn only tried on so they are brand new.
I got them over a year ago and I couldn't send them back as it was an online sale for $90 when they usually cost around $150
If I can help, please let me know

" I have been wearing uggs on a daily basis for over a year now due to the RSD in my leg and I must say they are the only pair of shoes that I can survive in. Unfortunately I dont wear flip flops because I'm too sacred to have my foot exposed and it's too sensative. I recommend uggs for sure, its worth the investment. "
