I am currently prescribed 240mg a day with 10mg of oxynorm prn.
I have RSD for the last 5 years is this dosage high for oxycontin or are there better pain alternatives, neurontin didn't help.

" I'm moving and I've been at same Doctor for over 18 years. I've spent a year trying to locate a new doctor. I'm not close to a major health center, but I did call one that was several hours away. After reading reports written about the doctor they assigned me, I cancelled my apt. because they wrote that he did not deal with pain issues and just referred you out. I've tried everything and I can't even get a call back from any of the docs. I was at a major health facility for all those years, and I would have never wanted to leave, but we had to because of my husband's work. I think so many doctors are afraid to try and treat the pain. I've tried everything that I could and have other conditions as well.
I'm frustrated and scared. "

" shellseeker, would your previous doctor be able to help you find someone? sometimes a physician referal will be the key. if they can give you a 'clean, non-drug-seeking' history, other doctors will be more comfortable treating you. how far away are you from you old doctor? sometimes they know a doc who knows a doc who knows a doc that might have contacts in your new area.
it never hurts to ask.
also, you might contact the American Chronic Pain Association and see if they can help. here's the link:

i hope things work out for you. let me know how it goes! "

" Hi, new to this group ! I was just switched to Zoloft from Cymbalta as I had gained 25 lbs in about 2 months ! Im not sure that any anti-depressant type drug will work for me as I have extreme side effects from them. Hower, I do have a bit of input on pain meds and the new OP! I've had extreme brain fog, body aches and an overall feeling that the new Oxy Poison (OP!) is causing my intestinal tract to shut down and has not been as NEARLY effective on my RSD and Adhesive Disease pain as it was prior to the change! I often have severe nausea from the OP as well and have puked them up WHOLE many many many times! They were swollen the size of butterscotch candy and you could clearly see the 80 and the OP on each side and each of them were dark dark yellow which meant stomach acid was soaking up into the OP and swelling!! To me I feel that I've had incredibly horrid constipation now too, to the point where I feel I have an intestinal blockage!
I sooo agree with all of you on this new oxycontin! Also the sleeping patterns giving you fibro symptoms! I've said for years that I feel this way because I can never sleep and actually get to R.E.M to achieve a completely rested body! So each day I just wake up after a reluctant 3 or 4 hours and still feel like the same hell I did before!!!
I am commonly on the Chronic Pain group board and recently had a traumatic anesthesia experience too! What is this medical world coming to when we can't speak our minds and be believed when something isn't working, causing harm or making us feel incredibly worse! OR get proper anesthesia for outpatient surgery????
Hi to all of my fellow RSD'ers! This is a recent diagnosis for me and anything I could learn would be incredibly welcomed by me! "
