" Hi! Although I have only had RSD for just over 3 1/2 yrs I can tell that you are the kind of friend anyone with RSD would want. You care enough to come online ask questions and try and learn what it is your friend needs. We just really need empathy, not sympathy. We need you to understand today I may not be able to hang out and go to the movies or lunch but tomorrow I may be able to and I don't want you to assume I can't. I want to be asked, please don't give up on me, don't stop visiting me, and please understand if we go out I may have to leave earlier then everyone else to prevent over-doing it. My medications also have side effects that can make me feel very tired, ill and crabby. Please understand I do not mean to react negatively but sometimes it all gets to me. I need you to listen , cry, yell and stick up for me among other people who may be ignorant to my condition.
I could go on but I think you probably do all these already. Please be aware that depression goes hand in hand with any chronic illness and it is your responsibility as my friend to know the signs and tell my family if you suspect a serious problem, it could save my life!!!! Little things as simple as a an I am thinking of you card goes a long way! Hope this helps and please ask anything you want, I am an open book and will answer honestly. Take care and continue to be a great friend, she needs you!!!! "
