I am having a problem where I have seen numerous doctors and whats happening is they are all disagreeing with each other. When I see ortho docs they recommend me to be in a pain mgmt clinic and that I have RSD, but then when I go to the pain clinics they keep telling me that I have ulnar neuropathy. I do not know what to do because they symptoms I have seem more that simple neuropathy. I was thinking maybe i should see a neurologist but I feel like I'm at the end of my rope? Anyone have any advice. Thanks all for your responses

" Can you ask for a conference call? I had a Pain Management doctor that wrote a note on a RX paper to another doctor telling him that he thought I had RSD and to check me out for it. Or call your insurance company and tell them what your going through. If they know that they are wasting money on these appointments they will jump into the dog fight and get answers. Blue Shield ended up by gaving me a case worker to help to figure out why I was so sick. Good Luck! "

" you know, i've been through the same thing, only with the same doctor!

she's extremely well-credentialed, an antithstesiologist AND a pain doctor, and she has diagnosed me with both neuropathy AND rsd. i'm thinking that in some cases they can be so similar that they're basically one and the same - or else indistinguishable? if it helps, my neuropathy is visceral ...

feel free to PM me, maybe we can discuss this further and find out an answer together somehow - i've never heard anyone else say this yet! i thought i was alone in ths double-diagnosis boat on this one.

hope this helps somewhat ... have a good one!

" I think it is a good idea to call the state of Illinois and let them know what the problem is and that I have been going to all of these doctors and can't get appropiate treatments and a solid diagnosis. Its as if the pain management specialist want me to see the ortho to get this ulnar nerve moved again but none of the ortho docs i have ever met will not take a chance moving my nerve over and over because the risk of this condition becoming worse is greater than the mere possible rewards thnx RSDinme for such a great idea.
Misa we got to find a RSD doc together and get a solid diagnosis. Another big problem im having is that Im taking meds like neurotin, tamadol and otc motrin and tylenol and this is not helping the pain. I am growing weaker and more wreary with the pain and aggrevation of all of this. Mybe we should first start with a simple google on RSD specialist in our areas. Thanks to both of you for your good advice take care "
