Hi everyone I have RSD in my left shoulder after surgery three years ago. The other day I lifted a heavy bag with my good right arm. I felt instant pain.I have pain from my shoulder down to my fingers. The pain now comes and goes which is best discribed as burning and trobbing which is mainly more intense in the elbow. It has been like this or three weeks. I hope it is not further RSD. has anybody had a similar experience where they may have got RSD in further body parts after a further injury.

i am also having mystery pains right through my body, my rsd is in my right foot ankle, currently I have pain hip to toe on my left leg also and in my hands, my left hand i can't use at all. Doctors are testing me for rheumatoid arthritis, so far tests have been negative. there isn't visible swelling, but my hand is clawing...
i'm sorry, i don't have any answers...just a smile to let you know you aren't alone... -Caf :)

I have RSD in my right shoulder, shoulder blade, arm and hand. I also have it in my left foot from a different crush injury. Once the sympathetic nervous system is damaged, it is easier to have the signals sent from the injury to our brains a bit confused. Our nervous systems can't seem to register pain and healing correctly. It's skewed. I have had RSD for 11 years now and I am understanding more about how the brain and nerves work together. Keep telling yourself you do not have RSD and do things to quickly use that area of your body. RSD makes us not want to use these areas so we have to fight against it. get a massage, go in the hot tub or use a heating pad...don't use ice!!! Begin to use your arm. treat it as a sore muscle that may have just pinched a nerve. When the muscle relaxes the nerves will free up. You don't have to have RSD. There are far greater symptoms if you really have it in another area of your body, than just pain. Physiological changes that appear when you do have it. relax and take it easy. Be gentle on yourself and don't tell yourself you have it. Fight against it in your mind. Your brain tells your body how to respond. Tell it to respond correctly. keep telling yourself its only a spasm.

I had that same pain after going back to work (light duty) when I injured my right hand. It turned out that I actually ruptured or tore my left rotator cuff from lifting something heavy with it or throwing the trash in the tall dumpster. But if it might be and you already have RSD they are saying to be cautious about another surgery and have precautians taken as to prevent further rsd? The symptoms are so similar you might have it checked out, since you said you were lifting something heavy, this is a possibility.

yes recently I have muscle spasms that are beyond being annoying. I was hit by a car in 2004 an MRI I took confirmed a right elbow fracture, later I had surgery in November of 2005 to fix the fracture and move my ulnar nerve which was being compressed. The problem is I never got better. In fact I got worse. Now the pain is not only in my right arm and elbow it has spreaded to the left elbow and arm. The muscle tremors I having is in my feet and thighs. The best thing I guess we can both do is pray that this doesn't spread any further. Take care of yourself
