well, i am 27 yrs old. I was diagnosed with Raynauds when I was 6 yrs old.. in 2004 i had a sympathectomy on each hand and the tip of one finger tip removed because it had developed dry gangrene where it couldnt heal properly. i am currently in a battle with another finger tip. same hand. i have tried major blood thinners and it didnt work. Calcium channel blockers just make my BP drop thru the floor. Sooo, now my specialists have came up with a new idea. and i was wondering if any of you had heard about it or tried it.. The Med, is called Revatio and its in the same catagory as Viagra... yes.. Viagra.. *L* at this point i am desperate and i even told em i would try leeches... they said i should try this first. have any of you heard or tried anything like this? do i actually have a chance? that is if i can afford the $1600 a month that it costs... *LOL*

" Amy,

My Ruemotologist also suggested Viagra after running through many different beta and calcium channel blockers. So far, I have best, marginal, success, with a calcium channel blocker, but I too, have my BP fall to the floor and things are pretty rough going. For that reason, during the warmer parts of the year here in Washington State, I stop taking the meds and go without, even though my hands and feet feel even the slightest cool tempartures. For example under 70 degrees F my vessels contract. I have had Raynauds, not knowingly, all my life. I only realized I had it about 7 years ago. Pat "

" I have been diagnosed with Sjogren's syndrome. In the winter time my right index finger gets so cold it burns, otherwise I can go outside without gloves on as cold as 20° and my fingers are warm, except my right index finger. Or if I wash my hands, only in the winter the air that passes around my finger the finger will become very cold. I have to take my other hand and warm the finger up, otherwise I have this intense burning sensation. This does not seem like your typical symptom or is it? And why is it only on one finger. My two cents worth I feel that beautiful should have a second opinion because I believe the leeches would work better, frankly why do you want more chemicals in your Buddy if you don't have to. Like I say you might be desperate but stand back take a deep breath and think about it and say what should I really do. I'm not saying not do it, I'm just saying desperation can cloud your thinking capacity.

Hugs and good luck
Doug "

" well, unfortunatly my body is already full of chemicals. my body is soo messed up it cannot function without them. and my immune system is soo screwy that any of the herbs or supplements for better health and immune systems mess it up big time and i end up in icu with some sort of organ failure again. they started me on a new med. verapamil, which is some oddball variety of calcium channel blocker and its actually working. so hopefully i will be all healed soon "

" I am on Verapamil! It works for me at times. Why at times? Because in the past i would stop taking it in the summer time I was taking 7 pills a day and i wanted to give me system a rest with all those pills. As a matter of fact i took myself off all my pills except for adderall and a asprin a day. Sence last winter i was put back on the Verapamil, it's helping me with my migrane headaches and it's even helping me with that time of the month! So I promised everyone that i would stay on it even in the I won't stop taking it. "

" I just had a second opinion by a very well-esteemed Rheum @ UCLA medical center and he also suggested Viagra and Revatio since I have had little luck with others. If I could afford it, I would definitely try it!
