Preparing for the Winter

With the weather starting to get colder. How do you prepare yourself for the cold. What parts of your body are affected and what do you do to relieve the pain.

I find I have to start wearing thicker socks and I wear slippers in the house. To keep my feet warm. When I go out now I find I have to wear gloves. My hands are like icicles.

" I got my mittens out already. Slippers come out next, then a winter robe. Changed to flannel sheets today. Will be toasty tonight. Hate to have to wake up early for my trip. Maybe won't leave til daybreak, and catch a few extra ZZZZ's. "

" I find that my feet get cold even with socks, but if I wear big boots, they get sweaty. I think it has to do with lack of air to my feet, not because they get hot. Gloves or mittens are a must. I cover my ears and take a sweater everywhere I go because it tends to be cold indoors also. (Same way with the AC in summer time). I keep clothes near my bed because I can't sleep if it's too warm, but it's painful to get out of bed when the house is chilly, so I put on pants and socks. A winter robe would do the trick, too. Also, try not to stress out during the holidays. Stress makes Raynauds worse, at least with me. Take it easy and take care of you! "

" Thanks Laffalot and Ketsugi for replying. It's nice to find out what other people do for Raynauds. I hope we get more replies.
Thanks again And hugs to you both.

" I wanted to add that I bought some nice winter boots recently. They have been a godsend. I know boots can be a little expensive, but it's worth it!! "

" I live in Florida so the more often hot weather than cold helps, but winter is still in the freezing temps here. I work in an office and wear a ridiculous amount of clothing layers. I wear knit mittens that leave the tips of my fingers out so I can still type since most of my work is at the computer. I wear a hat (hold the heat in) and scarf. I wear heavy wool socks in heavy soled shoes and use a stool under my feet so they aren't on the cold floor. Then put a small blanket over my legs. My nose still gets cold. Everyone laughs at me. Don't care. I will get phycially sick when cold in addition to my toes and fingers going pure white.

When I lived in upstate NY, I bought battery heated socks and a lot of extreme weather clothing from LLBean.

Hot water bottle (old fashioned idea) under my socked feet at home helps a lot. If I get too bad when going to bed, I'll use an electric cozy (small lap style) blanket to get me and bed warm. I used to have an electric matress pad - goes on the bottom, not a top blanket, but don't know if you can still buy them.

Makes me even laugh at what I'll do to keep warm! Hope you find what works for you. "

" I still haven't been able to find a pair of gloves/mittens that will keep my hands warm. Everytime I go out within minutes my hands are frozen. White like no blood flowing at all. Even inside while I'm posting this my fingers are white.
Any suggestions? "

" I have gloves on while typing, tights, socks in the house and jumper and cardigan. Yes we have central heating but I cannot stand the cold and I have loads of blanket on for bed time. Everyone is in their pyjamas looking at me strangely, oh well never mind. "

" Our wood stove is not working properly so we don't have it on. We do have alternative heating (Profane furnace) But up here its well below freezing. I am typing with gloves on but to tell you the truth. They aren't working. My fingers are white again! And cold as ice.
I wish someone could invent a material for gloves that will help in warming the hands. "
