I posted this in the Discussions section & someone suggested I post it here too. I didn't really mean it to be a form of therapy, but I did find it interesting, so here goes:
Has anyone ever read the book We Were the Mulvaneys by Joyce Carol Oates? I read it about a year ago & I felt like J.C. Oates had sneaked inside my brain somehow, peeked at some of my memories & wrote them down in this book. Of course my story is not identical to that of the girl in the book, but some parts were pretty darn close. I found it very interesting. That's what set the ball rolling for me in making me feel like I wasn't alone, and that this does happen to other people. (It's fiction, but the feelings/experiences are real life). It wasn't too uncomfortable as it doesn't get into any graphic details, but still, read at your own risk. |
