Why do the ones closes to you when you tell them you were raped say I deserved to be raped? My mother sister and son said I deserved to be beaten and raped.

There is no reason, no excuse, for rape. NOBODY deserves to be raped. Period.
They are afraid to face the truth... and it is easier to attack you than your abuser. I'm sorry.

We expect our family to be able to emotionally and intellectually handle the adversities we have in our lives.
Unfortunately they are just now always ready to handle it. Few things can cause suffering like trying to force your families to "get it". Accept that this challenge is not within their understanding. Find people who do understand and can support you. Accept your family for what they can offer you. Yes you want more. But they are just not ready yet, maybe never.

I understand that most people who have not been raped have no idea what it is like and what it does to you. But that does not allow them to scream at me when I am at my lowest and say it was my fault. I cant be around abusers and that is what I accept them as.

They say this because they want to blame someone, and they don't want to deal with it. Also, because they need to be angry and you're available. I got some of the same -- being a guy, I could have woken up from a drug coma and beat them off, right? That sucks. With your son, randomly withhold a toy. When he asks why, say there is no reason. Then, ask him if he deserved to have it taken away. 30

Nobody deserves to be raped no matter what. I am so sorry that anyone would say that to you, especially your family. I just don't understand why they would say that to you. Sending hugs. I hope they learn to understand that it wasn't your fault and you definately did not deserve it. (and I hope you know that too.)

It makes me furious when people have the guts to say that. They usually say it like it's nothing and it's because they just don't get it. They never will understand unless it happens to them and I can't even wish it upon people I dislike.
