I was just wondering what peoples reactions are to you telling them about being raped, the initial reactions and how your interactions with them were changed.
I'm interested in good reactions and bad ones. Also as a side question, if you got a bad reaction how did you find the courage to talk to someone else? Posted on 06/24/09, 11:06 pm |

The first time I tried to tell a cousin I was really close to, and she said I deserved it. I did tell anyone else about it for a couple of years when my sister went through the same thing and confided in me. She has been the one that has really been there for me and really understands. I eventually told my parents because they knew something was wrong. They are very supportive. I also told a couple of ex boyfriends who really didn't understand at all. One even used to use it to hurt my feelings. He would tell me that I deserved it and that no other guy would ever want me for anything but sex. So I have had mixed responses.

The more people you tell the better. But protect yourself. Only tell trustworthy people. I told my 2nd husband, who was abusive, and he told me I deserved it. But most people in the world are sensitive and kind, so just as I said protect yourself.
