What causes PEs?

Just out of hospital, had multiple PEs, now started on Warfarin treatment, and the pains in chest are subsiding. But I have some questions for you experienced people.

I have not had any DVT so far as I know, nor any trauma in recent years, I don't go deep-sea diving. So what has caused this episode? My doctors have been unable to come up with an explanation, so I don't know what to avoid. I have had a lot (lots and lots) of stress in my personal life (break-up with daughter & family, who co-own this house), which continues daily. I am a (supposedly retired) DIY maniac, so I do lots of heavy work and ladder work.

Do any of these factors contribute to PE's?

" Hello again - I just replied to this post on the PE group!
I've been diagnosed with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension which was caused by the multiple PEs yet I still don't have a clue why I got the PEs in the first place.
Has your PH been confirmed yet? I've heard that sometimes a slight case of PH can correct itself as the clots dissolve and your pulmonary blood vessels clear again. I hope this is the case for you - if not don't worry because there's lots of new treatments for PH now and lots of research going on too - take care - Sandi "

" PE stands for pulmonary embolism Berta - in other words - blood clots in the lungs.
They were the cause of my PH but I don't know what caused them!
Love Sandi x "
