Just need some input, I know I haven't been on here forever, but I have been so busy! Anyways I just went back for a 6 month visit and still no answers..I just wish someone would say, "yes" or "no" you have pulmonary hypertension! My husband and I were planning on trying to have another baby this summer, but cardiologist said absolutely not at this time!!! I just want a definate answer. My EKG showed my aterial pressure at 39mmHg at resting, so they have no idea if i have pulmonary hypertension or not!! I have to go back in 6 months for another EKG!! Seriously, I FEEL FINE! Do I want to put my life on hold again for the next 6 months, just wish I could get a straight answer! Sorry but I just need to vent a little !!! ANy advice would be great!!

Hi there Jodie
I don't really understand why your doctors can't make a decision! When I had a heart echo which showed high pressure in my lungs I was sent to a specialist centre quite quickly for more tests. Have you had a heart echo? (Its just like an ultrasound scan of the heart)Is that the same as an EKG? I've sent you a "friend" request so that you can read my journal if you want to. It's really just a record of my medical history that I kept really for myself but you may find it helpful. Take care - Sandi x

Hi there. Sorry you're feeling down and don't have a diagnosis. Have they not done a heart cath?? That should give a definitive diagnosis. Seriously think about another pulmonary doctor. Keep your chin up. :)

Every time they mention a heart cath they say that they don't feel it is necessary at this time! I'm just curious as to my aterial pressures, cause that is the only symptom that I have! Does anyone else know what their pressures are? Mine are 39mmHg at resting and 70mmHg after a 6 minute treadmill walk!

How did they check your pressures? I've got a follow-up appointment at the hospital in a couple of weeks but I don't know what tests they will be repeating. If I get any info I'll let you know - Sx

I'm not a doctor but I strongly feel that you do need a heart cath. If you read about pulmonary hypertension and how it's diagnosed the medical information tells you this. I'm wondering if the docs don't think your insurance will cover it or cover all of it or something along those lines. Also, a cardiologist is the one who would do the heart cath. If your doctor is not a cardiologist he would have to refer. Maybe they don't want to do that...being arrogant or selfish. I'm not sure but please reconsider getting a second opinion, third if you have to. It's your life and your health. This disease is serious and most doctors know very little.

ok so they have checked my pressures by a heart echo and a transthoracic echocardiography. I have gone to 2 cardiologist, a pulmonologist in Chicago (who is supposed to be the BEST in PH), and i'm currently getting an appointment with a pulmonologist close to home. So the cardiologists are the ones who think I have PH and the "Specialist" in Chicago says I don't have PH....so who do you go by?? So confused and stressed!!!!

Jodie - I was first diagnosed with pressure of 110 from my cardiologist and he sent me to a Pulmonary doctor who sent me to Baylor to a doctor that is specialized in Pulmonary Aterial Hypertension. If I understand right there are not many who have this problem. My is considered serious. They did a right heart cath and found out the true pressure was 110 and that is what the echo showed. They put me on revatio and then I went into a study for letaris and I am now taking that med. with others. When you pressure gets above they should put a flag on a problem. If they would have sent me when mine was 60 then I wouldn't have had to have gone through all I did. I am thankful that I found the help I needed. I was told 25 is normal. So I know 110 is bad. I am glad that you don't have other symptoms. My biggest problem was fatigued and trouble breathing tha that is why I am on oxygen 24/7. Hope this helps. Love and Prayers, Berta Let me hear from you.

I have Pulmonary Hypertension. It is 71mmhg. The normal is 25 so you arent really high at 39, but time to get checked. I had an echo, then a TEE ( where they go down your throat into your heart) then a rght sided catheterization. Once you get these, you will know your right numbers and if you have PHH. Then you can get on top of it right away and get on with y our life.
