I am taking remeron (mirtazapine) for my anxiety. It helped my shakiness but I still seem to be agitated and stressed over nothing. Any advice on something different for a PH sufferer? High anxiety kind of runs in my family so I am having trouble figuring this one out. I eat well and force myself to go on good long walks. I just don't know!!!

" I went through a year of high anxiety and took every med in the book looking for relief. First, you say you have anxiety over nothing. That's correct, it is independent of everything it seems. It has a life of its own. So the question "Well, what are you anxious about?' is meaningless. It's not 'about'. Remeron is the only med that worked for me, sort of. But ultimately it was getting off all meds (especially benzos) and taking fish oil caps (get them at Cosco, cheap, take 4 in the morning and forget about 'with meals' etc, just take them all when you get up and be done with it). And here is a real help, I suggested this to a woman who was really having high anxiety -- inositol -- it cured it for her. Get it at health store, over the counter (caps, not powder) and take as needed during the day. I'm not a doctor but I can tell you from experience that the SSRI's can have some really nasty side effects, including a heightened level of anxiety. It sort of depends on whether serotonin is your problem. There is a condition known as serotonin sydrome ie too much of it. Obviously then the SSRI compounds your problems. Seems to me that the doctors are on automatic when it comes to this. Here, take these SSRI's, AND try to relax. Oh sure, I'll try to relax. I feel for you, I have been there. And I should tell you that after having lost 30# during this high anxiety thing I am now rather mellow. So even though you feel like you can't stand to be here (I know), stay strong and you will win. " One thing my pulmonary hypertension doctors told me was stay away from healthstore meds because they might not mix too well with the meds I have to take just to breathe and keep my rightheart from working so hard. Thanks for the advice tho. I tried to quit remeron but it didn't work so I'm going to my Dr and changing it. They do work but I gained way too much weight. "
