Hope your tests gave you some positive hope. I would like to caution you to research tests prior to giving consent to procede so you'll know the potential risks. I recently had a bronchoscopy with biopsy of my lungs, although I already had a diagnosis this new pulmonologist pushed for the biopsy, there was no need ... I already knew I have an incurable lung disease ... and unfortuntately during the procedure my lung was punctured and now in addition to my original lung problem I now have a second possibly serious problem, a pneumothorax, which requires more worry and tracking by the pulmo doc. I looked it up once I got home from the hospital only to find out it's not that uncommon during that type of procedure. I am doing well on my medication plan though, so am thankful for that. I wish you the best in your experience of this difficult illness and keep the whole DS group in my prayers. Never give up and find the joy in each moment, you are not alone.

My husband had a lung biopsy last month. They did the Video-assisted thorascopic surgery (VATS). A VATS uses a scope (called a thorascope) passed through a small incision in the chest to remove a sample of lung tissue. They made 3 small incisions, one for the camera, the other for a drain and I think the third one was to get the biopsy. He was in the hospital for 5 days. He was diagnosed with Idopathic Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis. He is using a couple of inhalers and oxygen when he walks up hills. He is doing very well and his Pulmonary doctor said he caught the problem early and feels he will continue on without any additional problems for a long time.
Take care of yourself! Sue

Hello folks: My tests were about the same as they had been the previous time ...so at least no particular "worsening". I had lung biopsy done last December while in hospital....small incision through my side in real OR procedure. I know I am in better shape than some people are (glad to hear your husband is doing so well, Sue,. This is not a fun disease, is it Allen? I have read where Jerry Lewis was diagnosed with it nearly 10 years ago......let us hope and pray for a similar "long run"...asw opposed to the alternative.
Thank you both so much for taking the time to comment. It helps to know there are kind and senstitive people who take the time to read and comment. Regards..oxford
