Has anyone else here had rapid onset PF ?
Mike had an xray in July last year and had clear lungs....by September they could see a problem and ordered a CTscan...this showed massive Fibrosis taking 2/3rds of his right lung and 1/3rd left. They even showed us the July xray as they at first thought they MUST have missed something, but you can see it's clear ( and also that it is MIkes :) as it has the known upper scaring from an old TB battle). We now have been told that his latest scan shows for damage. Would be interested in others experience. Posted on 03/14/09, 05:03 am |

My understanding is that Xrays can seem normal. Getting a high rez ct scan can show the abnormalities. Also, people can react diff to the disease with either fast progression or slow progression. I'm sorry to hear it has been fast down hill.

We are now a year into this disease....and it has been devastating :(
Mike is now on 24/7 O2 and a pile of medication. His energy levels are just above zero .... he fights to breathe with the slightest exertion.....is deperately tired most of the time. He is wheelchair bound if we need to leave the house and I grieve daily for all that he can no longer enjoy.......from a stroll round the garden to playing his music......all too much for him. I am breaking my heart but have to hide it. The only positive has been the move to our new home......a haven for us and appreciated each and every day.
