Words of support for family of terminally ill man

My dad is only 52 years old. He was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis at the end of 2007. He has deteriorated a great deal since then and we relocated to San Antonio, Texas to wait for a lung transplant. He barely got on the list about a week ago. Although we've been dealing with this for a little over a year, our hearts are breaking as well as our spirits. I am a 20 year old girl who cannot handle the thought of having to possibly live life without her father. My mom is the most caring and optimistic woman and its heartbreaking to see the effects this horrible disease has taken on our lives. Our support system was our family but they live in El Paso so obviously they couldn't move over here with us. We only have each other but we do need some advice on how to handle this or at least to know there are others plagued by this disasterous condition.

" Good thoughts and prayers go out to you, your Mom and Dad. I have been DX with IPF last May. One of the scary parts of this disease for me is the part of not being able to catch my breath. Be there for your Dad and come on here whenever you need to ask a question or need to vent. I don't like having to haul oxygen around with me all the time but, if I don't I get SOB. This disease can strike anyone. Don't be mad at your Dad. Be there for him he needs much love and care. I live alone and my sister comes 3 days a week for a couple of hours each day. She calls on a daily basis especially at night to be sure I'm home and locked in. Hugs to You and You and Your Family Have My Thoughts and Prayers. Tom "

" Hi Sweety,
I'm so sorry to hear of yet another person with this horrid disease. I also have PF. I was diagnosed in 2006. Thank God I have a loving family as you do.

You are doing the right thing finding support sites and information to learn how to help your dad and gain information. I want to tell you about a site called Breathsupport.
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/gro...

It's a great site for information and to chat with many others who have or have family members with PF. Please check it out honey. I think you'll be glad you did.
God Bless your family with His Peace and Presence. ^.^ "
