Hello everyone,

Just popped in to say hi to everyone who knows me and to reassure everyone who does not know me that things will get better. I had my PE in April 2008, came off warfarin in Oct 2008, and I have remained clot
free for over a year now. I still get anxiety and some pains, but in time, your mind learns to cope naturally with this stress - IT DOES GET BETTER. I know there were times when I felt it never would - that is natural and it will pass - and I am the most neurotic and paranoid person in the world!!

I did something positive from my experiences and managed to tell my story through a paper and magasine. I also did an hour on the 4th plinth (an art project for www.oneandother.co.uk) and got on TV with Clive Anderson. It has been cathartic telling my PE story but it also brought back a lot of traumatic memories - but I know that is part of the healing.

Anyway, I wanted to share about my 4th plinth experience with you
(even though it is a tad embarassing) because I know that when I was at my lowest the positive posts and messages lifted my spirit enormously and I vowed that I would always come back on here and post my good times too. I do not visit DS as much, so as not to be obssessed with my PE, but I used to be on here about 20 times a day last year. Basically, my plinth was me celebrating life - and the story of my PE can be found on a link under the screen. I wont waffle on here, but I wanted to share it because the project is over now and I do not know how long the site will be up.

Anyway, if you're interested in seeing a mad person dancing on top of a plinth and showing how you CAN beat PEs then I am on 23rd sept at 2am until 3am on www.oneandother.co.uk. I recreated my wedding day, as I had my PE in New York, whilst on holiday there, and I used to think back to New York and my PE instead of my wedding (got married in NYC too) but now I think how my PE enabled me to become stronger and more confident and without it I would not have had all these amazing things happen to me in the last few months!

If it helps just one person to have some hope that things get better then that will make me happy. Please feel free to leave a comment on there or email me on here if you want to catch up or if you have any questions that I can help you with.

I hope you get what I am on about, as I am all over the place today and I cannot blame the meds this time as I am not on them!!

Love DAwn

P.S I am Pick Me Up Mag today as well, they only write a bit about the PE, which for me is good because I want to foucs now on being ME, not a PE!! x x x x x

" Dawn,

Glad to hear you are doing well! I will definitely check out the article.

If you haven't already, you should touch bases with LifeBlood over in the U.K. They are a non-profit Patient Group over in the U.K. and much like NATT, their mission is to help patients and raise awareness about the dangers of DVT/PE:

" Well done Dawn for all your positive comments. I remember when you were trying to calm me down when I was really anxious too! But as you say - things do get better in time - I'm flying to Dubai on Monday and this time last year I would never have believed it! Take good care of yourself - S xx "
