Vitamins, supplements + warfarin

Anyone taking multivitamins or supplements while on warfarin? What kinds of supplements should I expect to impact my INR? I've already been advised against taking evening primrose oil or cod liver oil.

I just bought one that has:
600mg vitamin C
100mg arabinogalactan
50mg quercetin
50mg anthocyanidin

Lot of fancy words, and now I kinda feel like maybe it was too much effort to start taking this. I have been researching these today and speaking with pharmacists. Vitamin C doesn't have any real impact on INR I've been told. The only real issues I read were with quercetin. The info I read was that quercetin is a strong anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory. This leads me to believe it may interact with warfarin and make it more effective? However, 50mg of quercetin is approximately the equivalent found in one regular apple, and I don't think anyone here has been warned against eating apples.

Are these all going to be things I can determine by getting my INR checked? Are there other negative effects that anti-inflammatories would have for us that wouldn't show up in our INR?

" I'm completely new to this (just released from hospital last week) but I spoke to my doctor about taking vitamins, diet, etc. and he said the thing to do is be consistent with what I'm taking and the medication can be adjusted to allow for what's in my diet. He said if it becomes a problem keeping me in therapeutic levels then he would tell me to eliminate things which can interact with the medication. My pharmacist told me the same thing. So, I'd talk to my dr about your concerns and get his/her opinion.

Good luck and hope you're feeling ok. "

" There was a posting in the AC clinic where I used to go. It was a warning that if taking multivitamins, the manufacturer may change the composition without notice. This happened with one brand that made an unnanounced change to the Vitamin K strength. "

" More2be, would the best way to stay safe while taking multivitamins be to compare labels whenever a new bottle is purchased to compare the ingredients and amounts? Or is there more that could be going on that the ingredients list won't provide proof of? "
