" You mention that you medicine has helped in the past.
What has your doctor prescribed?

I have migraines and I am on coumadin for life.
My doctor has given me permission to take ibuprofen
(which is usually contraindicated with coumadin).
I, of course, can't advise you to do the same.
But I can suggest that you ask your doctor.
Extra strength tylenol is safe with coumadin but usually won't help a severe headache/migraine.
I also have a prescription for hydrocodone.

I would talk to my doc and have a plan before the next headache hits.

Hang in there. "

" ER might not be a bad idea. I had to go in shortly after my PE because my right arm was numb, and wasn't going away. Anyway, while there I told them I had been having mild headaches for the last couple days and they pretty much insisted I get a CT scan of the brain at that point. So, what I'm trying to say is that I think you have very good reason to go in and if nothing else maybe the peace of mind will help the headache go away. "

" I had a terrible headache a few weeks ago and nothing would touch it. My doc said it was ok to take Maxalt (my migraine med) but it didn't help. I ended up in the er with a CT scan (they did this as a precaution because of the coumadin, to be sure I didn't have bleeding on the brain) and it was negative. Morpheine wouldn't touch my headache. I ended up taking Dilaudid which finally got rid of it. Don't be afraid to get the medicine you need, but talk to your doctor first. I let myself be miserable for almost ten days because I was scared to take anything even if my doc said I could. "

" I've had a headache for 4 weeks. The only thing that seems to lessen it is oxycodone, but my doctor is anti-narcotics. I had a CT head scan in the hospital last week, and it came up negative, so I don't know what would help you. (I'm severly allergic to imitrex). "
