Back to Work

Well, I'm finally back to work! Exactly three months following my release from the hospital after massive bilateral PEs, the doctor allowed me to go back to half time work. That's four hours a day instead of 8. And I work at a job that requires no physical effort whatsoever. It wasn't easy, and I was pretty tired by the end of the four hours! Just thought I'd let you all know--things do get better, slowly but surely!

ahhh welcome back to the work force..I got back last Monday but my maternity leave was up, suprisingly my dr. didn't see a need to keep out for the PE's , was kind of shocked

I have been off with the latest PE's. Get my next Ct scan to try and figure out the "why" next week.
I kind of fear returning to work as I work outdoors and it is cold and wet out there at this time of the year. And I am already freezing even indoors

I will be going back Nov. 2nd after 3 months off, 1/2 days only for 2 weeks then back to full days. I am kinda looking forward to it. It makes me feel like things are getting back to normal, although I still have anxiety about my PE. Don't know if that will every go away fully.
:o))))

Congrats on being let back to work! I couldnt work for about 6 months as my job was very physical when not driving the truck. I hauled freight on a flat deck so that meant alot of strapping down the load and tarping it, etc. Now that I'm back I find it very tough. The physical work is still tough and I tire easily! Good luck!

Thanks, guys, for all your support and good wishes.Skihillguy--I can't imagine how you'll work outdoors in the cold and wet. Sounds unsafe to me! Lisactown--hope it's going well for you, too, and that you're feeling less anxious. FerretFan--I'm with you there on the anxiety--I'm not sure I'll ever completely calm down after this PE business, but I'm hoping that time will help. I found myself increasingly anxious with going back to work. I just feel very vulnerable and keep having flashbacks to the day I collapsed at home and was rushed to the ER.Angel G. Wow! I don't know how you do such hard physical work after a PE. Don't overdo it!

Congratulations to all of you for all the progress you have made. Life is good, even if we do have some limitations. Skihill guy did I understand your post right? You had another PE episode? I know what you mean about being outside. When the weather is either to hot or to cold that's when my lungs hurt the worst. I too am back to work full time and am loving every minute. I still get tired but I am in constant denial and chock it up to my age and not my PE"S :)
Luv ya all Hugs Ferr

So I went back to work this week and boy was I exhausted at the end of my 1/2 days. I felt very confused at work and had trouble getting back into the swing of things (I guess thats normal being off 3 months). I FELT SO FOGGY!!!! On Friday I almost broke down cause I felt that my boss expected me to perform the same as before I had gone off sick, but that will take me a bit to do. I still have 1 more week of half days then its back to full time, but I am afraid I can't do it! I was thinking on asking my doctor for a couple more weeks at 1/2 days or maybe increase it to 6hrs a day. I don't know what to do!!!!!! My health is supposed to be the most important thing now.

I'm back to work and school and its only been 2 weeks since I was in the hospital. (several pe's, infarctions, a dvt, etc). My doctors told me to go back to work right away, I made them give me at least a week off. Funny how the doctors don't take this condition seriously enough. I am obviously still in pain and get short of breath easily, but apparently they think I'm okay to resume my 2 jobs and full-time school. (and single-parenting) Good luck everyone mwho is back to work....all I want to do is sleep. A few hours into work and school, I'm already fatigued, but the doctor said that was normal.
